Teaching with Music Kids Music Kids passionately believes that a high-quality music education should be made available for every child.  We have pioneered an innovative in-school approach in order to provide this opportunity to families of all different types – many of whom have schedules that would prevent them from taking traditional afterschool lessons.  Thus, Music Kids differs from a traditional Suzuki organization.  Instead of adhering to a strict, prescribed teaching protocol, our creative teachers adapt the core pedagogical principles and repertoire to best meet the needs of the in-school environment.  We hearken to the image of Dr. Suzuki on stage with hundreds of children and strive to realize his grand vision that every child can “Twinkle”.

 Less overhead work, more time with students 

Music Kids teachers are freed from burden of heavy administrative work, thus allowing them to focus their complete attention on the needs of their students.  We have developed an easy-to-use website that streamlines student registrations, lesson scheduling, make-up lessons, parental billing, and regular teacher payments.  Teachers simply log on for a few minutes each week to mark completed lessons.  Our dedicated staff handles the managerial housekeeping so that teachers can put their students first.  Our in-school presence allows teachers unprecedented access to potential new students in an environment where marketing is natural, personable, and fun.  

Our teaching approach

Our teachers provide 30-minute individual lessons on a weekly basis and group lessons on a monthly basis.  Longer lesson durations are available for older or more advanced students.  Student recitals are held semi-annually where possible, and in-school performance opportunities abound in the classroom, school concerts, and other events.  The Suzuki-based principles we espouse emphasize ear training and musicianship instead of note-reading and arbitrary exercises.  Music Kids teachers are very passionate about their instrument, and actively seek to instill this zeal in their students.  We provide imaginative lessons that foster a sense of creativity, discovery, and fun!
